Master manual lymphatic drainage (MLD) and pressotherapy for post-surgical recovery, lymphedema, lipedema, and aesthetic body contouring. Learn Vodder technique, sequential compression devices, and contraindications. Accredited for aesthetic practitioners. Integrate manual and mechanical lymphatic techniques to reduce edema, accelerate surgical recovery, enhance body contouring results, and manage chronic fluid retention. Evidence-based protocols included.
Duration: 2 Days (Theory + Hands-On Workshop) | 14 CPD Points
This dual-modality certification course trains aesthetic practitioners in both manual lymphatic drainage (MLD) – specifically the Vodder and Foldi techniques – and pressotherapy (sequential pneumatic compression) for the management of acute and chronic edema, post-surgical recovery, and aesthetic body contouring enhancement.
The lymphatic system is the body's metabolic waste removal network. When compromised by surgery (liposuction, abdominoplasty, facelift, breast augmentation), injury, or chronic conditions (lymphedema, lipedema), fluid accumulation leads to prolonged swelling, pain, fibrosis, and suboptimal aesthetic outcomes. Manual lymphatic drainage uses light, rhythmic, directional strokes to reroute lymph flow around damaged or removed nodes and vessels. Pressotherapy uses multi-chambered inflatable garments (legs, arms, abdomen, hips) to deliver sequential, gradient pressure that mimics natural lymphatic contraction.
This course bridges rehabilitation and aesthetics – you will learn to accelerate patient recovery from cosmetic surgery, improve body contouring results (reducing post-liposuction fibrosis and seroma risk), manage chronic conditions like lymphedema and lipedema, and offer standalone cellulite and edema reduction treatments.
Key Learning Outcomes:
- Understand lymphatic anatomy: superficial vs. deep system, lymphangions (contractile units), lymph nodes, and major collecting trunks (thoracic duct, right lymphatic duct).
- Master manual lymphatic drainage (MLD) techniques: stationary circles, pump technique, rotary technique, and scoop technique for face, neck, trunk, and limbs.
- Operate pressotherapy devices: understand pressure settings (mmHg), sequential vs. simultaneous modes, cycle times, and garment selection (lower limb, upper limb, abdominal, hip/thigh).
- Apply pre- and post-surgical protocols: Liposuction (24-48 hours post-op), abdominoplasty (week 1-2), facelift (day 3-7), breast surgery (week 1).
- Manage chronic conditions: primary and secondary lymphedema, lipedema (painful fat syndrome), venous insufficiency, and post-traumatic edema.
- Recognize absolute contraindications: DVT, acute infection, congestive heart failure, active cancer (untreated), renal failure.
- Integrate MLD and pressotherapy with other aesthetic modalities: radiofrequency, cryotherapy, endermologie, and topical cosmeceuticals.
- Aesthetic physicians, nurses, and nurse practitioners
- Medical aestheticians and body contouring specialists
- Physical therapists and occupational therapists (expanding into aesthetics)
- Post-surgical recovery coaches and clinic owners
- Spa therapists offering medical-grade wellness services (under appropriate supervision)
